Kellermeister Pig on the Spit dinners awarded "Best Wine Event"
19-02-16
Family owned Barossa Valley winery, Kellermeister, has
been awarded the Best Wine Event at the Wine Tourism Awards
2016 by the most trusted and respected global drinks journal, Drinks
International - the only magazine devoted exclusively to the global
spirits, wine and beer market.
Kellermeister Wines was crowned the Winner in the
Best Wine Event category at the Wine Tourism Awards 2016 judging for their Pig
on the Spit Friday Dinner events.
The judges comments included “the event had a good emphasis on
tourism, was down to earth, popular and wide reaching. Good planning
enabled the event to run in all weathers, was
family friendly and appealing and fun with a party atmosphere.
The success of the event was demonstrated by the reoccurring shows that
were well attended and educational.”
Results were announced on 1st February and published
on www.drinksint.com and in
the February issue of Drinks International.
Cellar Door & Events Manager, Susanna Pearce, said “We
have been conducting these events for almost 5 years and they have become a
local institution where people can enjoy a casual meal and a glass of wine in
our unique winery setting, soak up the beautiful views and ambience and enjoy
live music at the end of a working week".
Susanna said husband and winemaker, Mark Pearce, started doing
these events to reintroduce locals to Kellermeister and so they could
immerse themselves in the context of his new wines whilst winding
down at the end of a week and enjoying the company of friends and family.
"It's always nice to have an independent third party acknowledge the
unique nature of what you offer when you put so much hard work into
something”, Susanna said.
This accolade for Kellermeister's cellar door follows the recent award
of the Barossa Trust Mark last year, a designation certifying an exceptional
and authentic Barossa experience.
