Kellermeister Shakes The Boot
The Leader Newspaper, Wednesday November 13 2013
Kellermeister has donated 100 cases of Boots cider to the annual “Shake the Boot” appeal. The state-wide fundraising event is held by the Australian Professional Firefighters Foundation (APFF) to raise money to assist burns survivors.
Kellermeister is proud to be the event’s very first major sponsor in its 13 year history. The Boots cider will be distributed to around 100 participating venues right across South Australia, from Mt. Gambier to Port Lincoln, where patrons can purchase a “lucky square” for the chance to win a case.
“The Boots cider was obviously a natural fit for the Shake the Boot appeal!” says owner-winemaker Mark Pearce. “We’re all deeply grateful for the extraordinary service the guys at the Metropolitan Fire Service provide for the community and the funds raised at this event make a real difference to the lives of burns survivors. We feel truly honoured to be Shake the Boot’s first major sponsor and proud to be able to support this important cause.”
Kellermeister’s donation will help in raising an estimated $50,000 for the charity, which will be used to upgrade the Burns Bathrooms in the Newland Ward at the Women's and Children's Hospital in Adelaide. The APFF’s biggest fundraising event of the year, Shake the Boot has helped to raise nearly half a million dollars for the Women’s and Children’s Hospital and other community projects since the annual appeal began in 2000.
Kellermeister became involved with the event through local Lyndoch man and long-serving Metropolitan Fire Service (MFS) member, Kevin “Billy” Boyle (pictured), who has been the key driver behind the Shake the Boot appeal since its inception.
